When to Seek Hospital Care
- Swelling that affects breathing or swallowing
- Major facial, jaw, or dental trauma
- Uncontrolled bleeding or infection
If any of these occur, go to the nearest hospital emergency department immediately.
If a Tooth is Knocked Out
- Handle the tooth by the crown, avoiding the root
- Rinse briefly with milk or saline, do not scrub
- If possible, place the tooth back in the socket, or keep it in milk
- Seek dental care as soon as possible
Extra Advice
- For pain relief, use over-the-counter medicine like paracetamol or ibuprofen if suitable for you
- Apply a cold pack externally to reduce swelling
- IAvoid placing aspirin directly on the gums
